Comic Con 2010 had a lot to offer. Yesterday I posted pictures taken from an empty sales floor; today I am posting pictures of authors doing author-type things. Deadline New York is reporting that Guillermo del Toro’s next directorial venture will be a 3-D adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s classic tale of cosmic horror, At the Mountains of Madness.

Zach Snyder gave us 300, which was a fairly adequate adaptation of Frank Miller’s masterpiece. I know a great many people love it but I wasn’t entirely convinced at its end. Then Snyder gave us Watchmen, which is certainly one of the hardest graphic novels to adapt ever, and he semi-pulled it off. I wasn’t thrilled with it but I enjoyed it more than most people, probably because that graphic novel has always been a study for me and I understand the story’s limitations and strengths.
Now Snyder is about to bring us Sucker Punch.

The con goer has really no chance to stop and gawk at the coolness that is on the convention floor. I’m sure some of the booths probably cost several hundred thousand dollars to create, if not more. You would never know it though, because the entire time you are too busy worrying about navigating the hordes of people.
