Music for Lovecraftian Love Children: Beatallica’s “Thing That Should Not LET IT BE”

You need not be a fan of Metallica or The Beatles to appreciate this deeply weird, yet oddly catchy, mash-up of Metallica’s “The Thing That Should Not Be” and The Beatles’ “Let it Be.”

Just a bit of trivia for those who weren’t a teenage metalhead like me: Metallica’s “The Thing That Should Not Be” was inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, of whom former bassist Cliff Burton (RIP – he was the soul of the band in my opinion) was a big fan. The song’s lyrics seem particularly inspired by Lovecraft’s “The Shadow Over Innsmouth,” a classic story of a town in the grip of the Elder Gods.

Anyway, on with the tunes:

The guitar riffs in the beginning sound a whole lot more like One than Thing That Should Not Be… seems they went a bit far afield with the mashing-up!
