Ari,
This weekend I spoke before an audience who were, by and large, far more well versed in the particular theoretical issues I was grappling with. However, what they didn’t know was the local context I explored in my paper, so by driving my part of the discussion to precisely those things I knew, I made a well received contribution to the discussion.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that nobody in your audience will expect you to know anything that you don’t, so stick to subjects you know and love and what you say will have value.
Good luck! It’s a total mindblast sitting on panels with authors you know and love. Enjoy it, you’ll never forget it.
