I haven't gotten around to reading the rest of the Bas Lag books, but I hear they get even better! I think that China Mieville is going to be one of the greatest writers of this generation. He's not just a good sci-fi or fantasy writer, he's a good all around writer and story teller in general. I read The City and The City and went into it having pretty low expectations, but I was blown away! I really encourage anyone who hasn't read a Mieville book to check him out! absolutely LOVED Perdido Street Station.
