Despite it ending yesterday, I will be posting a lot this week about Comic Con in a little segment I like to call Comic Con: Aftermath!
It has a foreboding ring to it, don’tcha think?
I was simply too busy conducting interviews and visiting panels over the weekend to write as many articles in the present as I wanted to. Yes, that busy. Rather than throw those articles away or post them all today in an unending torrent, I thought I would spread them out over the next few days. Like this one.
Comic Con is a place where the impossible happens. Take for instance this video interview between bestselling authors Christopher Paolini and Patrick Rothfuss. They had not met before, but both happened to be near the Suvudu booth at the same time! How cool is that? Since I knew Christopher was a fan of Pat’s The Name of the Wind, I thought it would be great fun to put them both in front of a camera, turn it on, and come what may!

This was a great interview between these two great authors. I have loved both these authors books. And to hear them talking about magic and creating their books are really cool. Looking forward to reading the next books they both have to share with us. Waiting, and searching to see the dates and all for the next one.

Fantastic interview. It was interesting listening to them talk about magic systems. I’m really glad they mentioned the name thing. At least Rothfuss knows he’s NOT ripping Le Guin off, as she didn’t invent the mystical power of names. I’m actually surprised he didn’t bring up Genesis as one of the older stories where the power is essentially expressed in naming. I get tired of people labeling certain authors as derivative of other authors especially when the supposed originators are also derivative.
Anyway, both of these authors are intelligent and thoughtful. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing it.

I was just curious as to when the interview with Paolini from Comic Con would be posted for viewing. I have yet to find it on the site and don’t think I overlooked it, and am quite curious to here what he had to say.
