Comic Con: China Mieville on “Kraken”

Comic Con: China Mieville on “Kraken”

Author China Mieville took a few moments out of his very busy Comic Con Schedule to discuss his newest novel Kraken, as well as other, more erudite topics, including cephalopod fandom, the occult and H.P. Lovecraft.

  1. Dave Woods says:

Finally the words “Release the Kraken” have a real world meaning.

  2. Great short interview. I particularly enjoyed his take on the every growing motif/meme of cephalopods in urban fantasy/weird/new weird fiction. Been rather obsessed with this phenomenon of late and just find it quite interesting and just plane cool.

  3. The Topiary Cow says:

Excellent interview. How often are ‘cephalopod geeks” interviewed by someone as knowledgeable as this?

  4. Fantastic interview. I didn’t realize I could get geek creds by adding geek to the beginning of my interests. “Cephalopod geek.” Nice. And I AM a cephalopod geek. But seriously, he doesn’t seem very geeky. Must be the accent. :) I did enjoy his explanation for the fascination with deep sea creatures. They are very alien.
