Cover: River Marked by Patricia Briggs

If that’s not a sexy cover, I don’t know what is!

Several books ago, Patricia Briggs and her publisher retained the art services of Dan Dos Santos, one of the best artists working today. He tends to use a model—one with a bit of acting ability—when he is working, allowing him to create dynamic shots that have realism to them.

The cover for River Marked, Book Six in the Mercy Thompson series, is a prime example of that. While Mercy is portrayed stunningly sexy in this image, I really love the detailed tattoo artwork on her body as well as what appears to be Native American symbology on the stone behind her.

Those elements are the last things Dan paints though. Want to know how he goes about his job? Click HERE to view a step-by-step sequence of how Dan created the Moon Called cover.

River Marked by Patricia Briggs will be published January 25, 2011. If you haven’t read this urban fantasy series, definitely pick up Moon Called. It might just turn into a new favorite series for you!

And well done, Dan!
