I am sitting here shocked tonight.
Ralph Vicinanza, power literary agent for writers like Stephen King, Peter Straub, Connie Willis, Robin Hobb, and many others, died Sunday of a cerebral aneurysm at the age of 60 years old.
This hits hard. Ralph took an interest in my novel The Dark Thorn long before I had even finished writing it. When I told Terry Brooks of Ralph’s interest he said, “Ralph is one of the best in the field. Make sure you listen to him.”
Ralph was easily one of the best agents I sent my book to. He was open, offered great advice, and responded immediately to any questions I had.
That level of professionalism is hard to come by.
For Ralph, it was his signature.
My thoughts go out to his friends and family who knew him best. The literary world is now without one of its strongest domestic and foreign rights agents.
May you represent the best literary writers of all time on the other side, Ralph.
They can do no better.

He was a phenomenal agent and a lovely person, charming, intelligent, and caring. He will be greatly missed; may his name be for a blessing.
