Harry Connolly is the contributor for this week’s Take Five, a semi-weekly series where we ask authors to share five facts about their latest books. Connolly’s latest book is Game of Cages, which the author describes as “about Ray Lilly, a semi-reformed ex-con forced to work for the Twenty Palace Society, a ruthless, secretive group of sorcerers dedicated to hunting down and killing people who misuse magic.” It is the second volume in the Twenty Palaces series, and a sequel to Child of Fire.
Harry Connolly:
Game of Cages…
…may be the second book in the Twenty Palaces series, but it’s also a stand-alone story. There’s no need to read the first book, Child of Fire, first (although it helps).
…has more dead bodies than a Die Hard movie (yes, even the second one).
…has cover art by Chris McGrath. Beautiful cover art. Seriously, there’s red lightning and everything.
…features not one but two deadly, otherworldly creatures without a fang or claw between them.
…contains, at the climax, a single sentence that’s nearly 550 words long. (It’s a sentence about violence, of course.)
