Cage Match–Villains! In Case You Didn’t Hear…

Randchamp

If you haven’t been watching our recap videos, well, shame on you!

The last two, especially, because it was there we announced our plans for the winner of Cage Match–Villains!:

They’re going up against the winner of Cage Match 2010, Rand al’Thor!

(Thanks to reader Shadow’sBane, whose idea I am blatantly “borrowing.” See, we listen–even if you tell me I suck!)

At the end of December, either The Mountain That Rides, Glory, or The Reaper are going to face off against Rand al’Thor to have an ultimate 2010 champion. We’re hoping to once again get Brandon Sanderson involved, as he did such a great job with it last time and, depending on who wins Villains!, we’ll try to get someone to champion one of those characters as well.

In the meantime, make sure you keep voting, and thanks again for being so involved with Cage Match this year!

  1. Bman says:

Rand versus Jaime AND Clegane if he wins. Much more epic.

  2. DeadAngel says:

I am a huge SOIAF fan but honestly i deeply hope that the mountain does not go against rand because, well he would stand absolutely no chance of winning, i mean NONE, especially if were using the rand of TTOM which managed to become even more overpowered.

  3. Chosen says:

Can’t we get another picture of Rand, There are much better pics of him around. Preferably one that shows just how ripped up his body is.

  4. dpomerico says:

Chosen: send some links, and I’ll see what I can do.

  5. Dragonsworn says:

I agree with Chosen, here is a few good examples by well known WoT fan artists, both known for creating official WoT art for the WoT comics.

Maybe this pic of Rand by Seamas Gallagher http://bp1.blogger.com/_4Cwvvts0d_k/SGHe6WrJgSI/AAAAAAAAAfo/_sCAaMAypoE/s1600-h/rand_seamas.jpg

or this, also by Seamas http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4Cwvvts0d_k/TMIS4xZ6X6I/AAAAAAAAA0k/DmCbsSpFeR8/s1600/rand.jpg

or this one by Jeremy Saliba which is awesome although one detail is innacurate http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QalxyuibvXg/SLe7R4kzvJI/AAAAAAAAAqc/BB091sDaT9E/s1600-h/re-learning+the+sword+03.jpg

And here is the adress to their sites: http://jeremysaliba.blogspot.com/ and http://seamassketches.blogspot.com/

  7. mujtaba says:

    finally.

  8. chris says:

we told u from the beginning.

  9. Shadow's Bane says:

    @dp
which of the image did u select??

  10. Dragonsworn says:

Ok, I’ve tried twice since yesterday to make my suggestion of Rand al’Thor pictures to stick here, but they always disappear :( Ok, once again, I agree with Chosen and I’ve got three suggestions.

These 3 portrayals are made by wellknown WoT artists that are known for creating covers and artwork for the WoT comics.

This by Jeremy Saliba shows a ripped up Rand as Chosen wants but one detail on Rand is innacurate. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QalxyuibvXg/SLe7R4kzvJI/AAAAAAAAAqc/BB091sDaT9E/s1600-h/re-learning+the+sword+03.jpg

Then two others by Seamas Gallagher: This: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4Cwvvts0d_k/TMIS4xZ6X6I/AAAAAAAAA0k/DmCbsSpFeR8/s1600/rand.jpg

    and This: http://bp1.blogger.com/_4Cwvvts0d_k/SGHe6WrJgSI/AAAAAAAAAfo/_sCAaMAypoE/s1600-h/rand_seamas.jpg

And here are the adresses to the respectives artists homepages: http://seamassketches.blogspot.com/ and http://jeremysaliba.blogspot.com/

  11. Shadow's Bane says:

can u give us the Date for the match??

  12. IK says:

Dude can u get a better image of Rand…cant u use the that u used in declaration of Winner in the Cage Match-2010??

  13. Shadow's Bane says:

r u gonna select a new photo of Rand??

  14. Somebot says:

    Balefire. Rand wins

  15. Dpomerico says:

@Shadow’s Bane: like I said, send me links to better pics, and I’ll switch it.

In the meantime, I believe the Championship will take place 12/20

  16. Shadow's Bane says:

So its Rand VS Mountain (Gregor clegane)

  17. Informer says:

the bloody site sucks….i mean the site…it never gets loaded properly…..i have everytime there is a comment or some thing missing

  18. DeadAngel says:

make this fight fair I suggest the top four vs rand to make this far more interesting(who knows maybe rand would lose), cause rand vs the mountain alone is pointless.

  19. dpomerico says:

@Shadow’s Bane: All the details (including calls for a new picture) are here: http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2010/11/cage-match-villains-we-have-a-winner.html

  20. trench says:

Cool picture of Rand, thanks for picking a new one, and giving the people what they want. Because lets face it, the Mob is always right, insane, but right as well.

  21. Shadow'sBane says:

It’s one of the best image….though it belongs to the Dark stage of rand that ended In beginning of ToM …its1000000times better than the last one.

  22. fantasy geek says:

Bailfire, Deathgates, fire blossoms, and that neat trick where he froze the sky and shattered the ice. This isn’t a match but a death sentence for Sir Gregor. In fact there is no plausiable scenario where The Mountain that rides gets within striking distance of Rand. More to the point these matchs are popularity contestests. Since there are more Jordan/Sanderson readers than Martin readers, Rand wins. What i want to see is a cage match between Oliver Rigney and George R. R. Martin, where the battle is not to death. They are instead tasked to write a complete story.

  23. Shadow'sBane says:

    :-D

  24. Shadow'sBane says:

    @fantasy geek

there is not much chances of seeing that match here :’(
may be we can have that in after life :-D

  25. fantasy geek says:

    @shadowsbane

Yeah, I’m aware the match is not possible due to death. At least when Jordan’s writing process slowed down in his later years he had a legitmate excuse. I can’t even fathom what Martin’s excuse is, 6 years for one book. Not mention when Feast was released, Dance had a promised release date for the following year. Alas GOT the HBO series comes out in the spring, I am am super excited to watch HBO butcher the greatest fantasy series ever.
