Just heard of another terrific one: Pat the Zombie. It's an upcoming parody of the children's classic Pat the Bunny. The cover art is just what you might expect....

Thanks for this article about titles. It came at a good time and is something I myself agonize over. I sometimes worry that everything has already been done and been done well. I was thinking about the name Star Wars, simple and direct and yet who would have thought of the lingering impact? So I am working to improve my title. First things, first, and so important.

This is a great post. Often writers concentrate so hard on perfecting their manuscripts that in the end the title just falls short. Personally, I like the single word titles, short and to the point, they jump out at you with the promise that the story will do the same. With that said, unique titles like Water for Elephants do make me stop and take a look. I have to admit that I do get a little bummed out when a title doesn't live up to the book.

Also, thanks again for running the writing contest. It's a great opportunity for us unpublished/un-agented writers.

I didn't even realize that *was* a novel title--I've only seen it as a sign in a few stores. I'll have to check this book out, since it's by Jean Shepherd, author of A Christmas Story, great film!
