@Jan Dohner: I often cite the Will Smith movie “Wild Wild West” when trying to give someone a visual of steampunk. It’s one of the most mainstream examples.

Super explanation! I try to explain steampunk to the kids here at the school 10-12 year olds but they don’t know anything about the Victorian Age yet.

Now, do you have a really good poster or photo that would help visualize it for kids?

Sweet.

Good summary + analysis of the genre. Aesthetically, I find steampunk/gearpunk to be wildly beautiful. Who doesn’t love all the gadgetry and anachronisms? It’s historical and contemporary at the same time, giving us the best of both worlds.

And frankly, I love the goggles.
