It was pretty amusing at the Epic Fantasy panel, which I'll be posting this week if it turned out okay. Most on the panel -- GRRM, Brandon Sanderson, Kevin J. Anderson, Patrick Rothfuss -- had facial hair of some kind. Authors Peter Orullilan and Christopher Paolini didn't and Christopher made a crack about it. It was pretty amusing.

Nice goatee Brandon... I'm wondering if he grew that out of peer pressure from sitting next to GRRM and Pat Rothfuss with their awesome beards.

An example of series that jumps around hundreds of years and shows how technology has changed is Anne McCaffrey's Pern books.
