2012 is nearly upon us. It’s a new year of authors publishing books; it’s a new year of fans reading them. And of course, there are some great novels coming out in the New Year.
After highlighting the Best of 2011, we at Suvudu decided to look at what is coming in 2012—and post those titles we think will be the best bets of the year!
Today’s 2012 Best Bet is The Wards of Faerie by Terry Brooks
2012 marks the 35th anniversary of the publication of The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks. It’s a genre foundation book, one of those novels that helped shape decades worth of reading habits, with some authors arguing without Sword, there might not be a fantasy section in bookstores. It’s going to be a great year for Terry Brooks fans.
To celebrate Terry’s milestone, Del Rey Books is doing something very special with his 2012 book, The Wards of Faerie. It is the first book in the Shannara’s Dark Legacy trilogy, a series that takes place after High Druid of Shannara. Just like The Sword of Shannara, Del Rey Books is giving Terry a full-color foldout poster that will be bound into the book. The book will also have a brand new map and schematics of the Druid Keep Paranor.
That’s not all though. Terry and Del Rey have decided to publish the trilogy in six month increments instead of yearly. Terry’s fans are already excited about that!
