The People’s Choice Awards will be held on January 11, 2012.
Before the show begins though, people must vote to honor the best in popular culture for 2011. There are 43 categories in all, some in Movies, some in Television, and some in Music. Since science fiction and fantasy have had such cultural growth in the last decade, it’s not surprising to see many of the shows and adaptations we all love nominated.
Game of Thrones, the hit HBO series, is one of them, nominated for Favorite Cable TV Drama. It’s up against some stiff competition. Dexter, Pretty Little Liars, True Blood, and White Collar. I have not seen Liars or Collar, but both Dexter and True Blood have won the category in the past, making Game of Thrones an immediate underdog.
Or underdirewolf…? Hmm…
There is only one way to put Game of Thrones over the top. And it’s by voting!

I have to say, I am shocked that Game of Thrones was not nominated in the Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show category. George R. R. Martin’s work is the epitome of Sci-Fi/Fantasy. And nothing against Supernatural, but it should not be ahead of Thrones as a nomination. The other shows—Fringe, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, and The Walking Dead—I can understand.
I am also saddened that neither Sean Bean or Peter Dinklage were nominated in the TV actor category.
Nothing we can do now.
But we can do something about the Favorite Cable TV Drama category! Let’s put Game of Thrones on top!
