There are less than 100 days before “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” hits movie theaters on December 14, 2012!
That means we will be progressively seeing more and more merchandise, television spots, and overall media coverage featuring the exploits of Bilbo Baggins, he who burgles.
Two days ago, I decided to change my Facebook timeline cover to reflect the upcoming movie. I was feeling a wee bit like Gollum for some reason — likely because as of late I’ve been looking in the mirror and seeing more of a passing resemblance. Ha! Be that as it may, I thought it would be amusing to switch my profile picture to that of Gollum and, keeping in that Middle Earth theme, a Hobbit timeline cover.
There wasn’t much out there. But I was blown away by what Peter Jackson’s team had done on The Hobbit website.
If you visit The Hobbit website, you can see several downloadable features that make even Smaug envious. This post is devoted to the Wallpaper section, where J.R.R. Tolkien fan can create different images to be used as Desktop Wallpaper, Mobile Wallpaper, Profile Icons, Facebook Covers, and Twitter Skins. It is easy to use. You can see them HERE.
And here is the timeline cover I created:
I went for dark and moody, the Dwarf company heading out from the Shire with Gandalf and Bilbo at their head, passing over the moonlit land, off to reclaim a vast treasure horde guarded by a fearsome dragon. It makes for a beautiful timeline cover. Say what you want about Facebook and its change to Timeline, but this is one aspect that I actually enjoy changing ever so often.
I’ll be changing mine occasionally, just for fun. Would love to see some of you come up with your own!
