When I finish my day’s work and reading a book has come and gone, I watch Charlie Rose.
Charlie Rose has been one of my favorite interviewers for a long time. If you haven’t watched him, he interviews everyone from politicians to foreign dignitaries to scientists to film makers and classical conductors. The best thinkers in the world, usually. He invites his interviewees to sit at a round table with nothing but a black stage and his questions, and there are times when the answers given affect the lives of everyone who is reading this. It is a testament to his ability to get at the heart of a matter. He is an Emmy winner and conducts spirited discourse that never spirals into anger.
In this heated political season, politicians could learn a thing or two from Charlie Rose.
Ms. Rowling doesn’t get interviewed very often. She maintains her privacy. But with the release of her new book, The Casual Vacancy, she joined Charlie Rose for an hour. She talks at length about her new non-Harry Potter novel but devotes quite a bit of time to Harry as well. She talks about her writing process, where her ideas come from, and what her plans are for the future.
Here is an excerpt from the hour show:
The interview is much longer, coming in around 52 minutes. Click HERE to watch it. It’s fascinating!
