Gifts For the Geek: Day 9: The Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne

hearne-houndedGifts For the Geek continues with Day 9!

Today, I am featuring Kevin Hearne and his great urban fantasy series, The Iron Druid Chronicles.

There are some great series being published right now but I find it difficult to find one as fun and entertaining as The Iron Druid Chronicles. It’s main character, Atticus O’Sullivan, is the last of the ancient Druids, living in our contemporary time against foes who have been hunting him for centuries. With his constant Irish wolfhound companion, Atticus finds himself in situations that bely logic but are grounded in ancient magic.

It makes for a great

If you don’t know about Kevin Hearne’s great series, here is an enticing look at the first book, Hounded:

The first novel in the original, six-book Iron Druid Chronicles—introducing a cool, new, funny urban fantasy hero

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old—when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power—plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a sexy bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish—to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

There are five books and one e-book novella in the series. Here they are:

For the urban fantasy reader in your life, the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne will make the perfect gift. Anyone who loves Jim Butcher will love the story of Atticus O’Sullivan. And since there are five books and an additional ebook—along with a forthcoming short story in Unfettered—the urban fantasy reader will appreciate this gift more and more with every book read!
