I will be attending the Get Lit at the Beach festival in a few weeks!
And with good reason.
I love the beach. Oregon features some of the best coastline in the United States. Cannon Beach, one of the towns on the Pacific, is a wonderfully peaceful community, unwilling to let corporate America sully their beach community, instead giving the every day man and woman a chance to open up a restaurant, glass shop, etc. It is a perfect getaway from the stresses of technology and life.
Now add books and writers into that equation! Get Lit at the Beach features seven bestselling authors this year, including Terry Brooks, Ursula K. Le Guin, Erica Bauermeister, Chelsea Cain, Phil Margolin, Garth Stein, and Willy Vlautin. The festival is small with only about 100 tickets available, making for an intimate weekend with these amazing writers.
Ever want to ask Terry how to pronounce a name?
He’ll be there to do it.
Ever want to ask Ursula why she wrote Left Hand of Darkness?
She’ll be there to answer it.
With so few tickets available, the entire weekend will be filled with numerous opportunities to hang out with these writers and talking to them about their work, the craft of writing, or any number of interesting topics!
