The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is coming to theaters on December 13th!
I have to admit, I am getting excited. Publicity and marketing for the movie has ramped up and we are seeing it everywhere now—before movies, on television commercials, in internet(s) ads and on various news networks.
I am of two minds when it comes to this. I was one of the rare people who did not fully enjoy the first movie. I loved what Peter Jackson was trying to do but he went over the top—as he has done in his last few movies—missing some opportunities to edit the movie and make it a tighter, more enjoyable film experience.
That said, I’m once again caught up in the mania when I should be trying to keep my expectations at a low. I just can’t though. My favorite parts of The Hobbit book will likely be in The Desolation of Smaug.
Yesterday, Peter Jackson and crew released a few more posters, each one focusing on the main characters in The Desolation of Smaug. Here they are in gorgeous review:
I hang any of those on my wall, even that sexy elf Legolas. Ha! The last image of the six is the new cover for The Hobbit book, which I think captures the conflict quite well in this second movie installment of the adaptation.
Any one else excited? What were your thoughts on the first film? Will this next one be a return to the excellence we saw in the Lord of the Rings films? I hope so!
There and back again…
