Here are some things I know. As fact. Yes, I am just arrogant enough to say that:
2. Matthew McConaughey is likely going to win an Academy Award before Interstellar hits the theaters. He was amazing in Dallas Buyers Club and from his appearance in Scorsese’s upcoming The Wolf of Wall Street, maybe two Oscars. And like all good directors, Christopher Nolan has an eye for talent and gets a great deal out of that talent. Could McConaughey be up for another award in 2015?
3. Along the lines of #2, Christopher Nolan is great at getting and directing talent. Interstellar stars Matthew McConaughey, true, but it also showcases Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn, Topher Grace, and Michael Caine. Umm… that is one helluva cast. How many award-nominees and winners there? Interstellar already has to be in the running for nominations.
4. While there is not much to this trailer—let’s face it, it is mostly historical space race footage—it does capture a spirit. And spirit is what Nolan is known for. He is capable of distilling down an idea and creating an entire movie around it that leaves audiences thinking long after the final frame has shown. It is the case here. This trailer for Interstellar captures the wonder of space while almost chastising man’s place in it. Love it.
5. I watched this teaser trailer before The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. After the movie was finished, I was still more excited about Interstellar than what I had just witnessed.
What do you think of the teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s next film? Can one year’s time come fast enough? Will this movie out-box-office the final Hobbit film? Can it?
Comment. Let’s talk.
