The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss will publish October 28, 2014.

It’s not the third book in Pat’s bestselling Kingkiller Chronicle but it does feature one of the trilogy’s most interesting and enigmatic characters—Auri. Pat has written a long novella that will be published in the US and UK as a smallish hardcover. And if his other fans are like me, they can’t wait for late October!

Here is more about The Slow Regard of Silent Things:

Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place.
Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries.

The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes. And it gives the reader a chance to learn things that only Auri knows….

In this book, Patrick Rothfuss brings us into the world of one of the Kingkiller Chronicle’s most enigmatic characters. Full of secrets and mysteries, The Slow Regard of Silent Things is the story of a broken girl trying to live in a broken world.

As you can see above, the UK publisher has released their cover for the book. It is alongside the US. It’s always interesting to see how two different publishers will create two different covers. I love both of these. Might even have to own both. I’m sure it’s a sinister plot by Pat!

What do you think of these two covers? Do you gravitate toward one of them over the other? Will you buy both like I will?

The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss will publish October 28, 2014!

Auri and the Underthing are returning…

I must admit that neither of the two do much to me, especially the US cover which is rather bland for me. I cannot say the same however about the Brazilian and French cover of “The Slow Regard of Silent Things” with an amazing artwork by Marc Simonetti (http://darkwolfsfantasyreviews.blogspot.ro/2014/06/cover-art-slow-regard-of-silent-things.html). That one would make me jump for the book if I see it on a bookshop.
